About Us
How Champagne Pack Trains Came to Be

It all started with a simple yet transformative decision. Years ago, the Cosco’s offered an Introduction to Packing Clinic, the same five-day program Champagne Pack Trains offers now! Among the participants was Kyra, who was eager to rekindle her passion for mountain horses. By the end of the clinic, Kyra had proven her skills and was hired as a wrangler for the Cosco’s outfitting business that season, where she quickly excelled.
When the Cosco’s eventually sold their outfitting business, Kyra continued to pursue her love for horses, gaining experience in the horse industry. After much thoughtful planning and discussion, she made the bold decision to quit her day job and fully commit to her passion. Not long after, Champagne Pack Trains Ltd. was born—a testament to Kyra’s dedication to following her dreams.
In a full-circle moment, Neil and Tara Cosco now work for Kyra, supporting the dream that began with that first clinic. The story of Champagne Pack Trains is a celebration of how one small step—like taking a five-day course—can change the trajectory of a life. Kyra’s passion has since inspired and impacted many more people who’ve had the privilege of being part of this journey.
Our Locations

Fat Horse Ranch – Ibex Valley
Our home base, Fat Horse Ranch, is nestled in the Ibex Valley near Whitehorse. This is where most of our Whitehorse-based operations take place, blending the comforts of home with the untamed beauty of the wilderness.

We are excited to be developing a second location in beautiful Haines Junction, the perfect jumping-off point for all our Kluane National Park adventures.
We Can Come to You!
Champagne Pack Trains isn’t just tied to one spot. We’ve offered clinics and courses in Teslin and Carmacks and plan to visit schools this summer. If you have an idea for how we could collaborate in your community or at a location of your choosing, we’d love to hear from you.

Tara takes care of the behind-the-scenes essentials that keep things running smoothly. From handling paperwork and finances to coordinating schedules, she ensures every detail is in place. Having grown up in the shadow of Kluane National Park, Tara has a lifelong connection to the outdoors and enjoys sharing time outside with her family whenever possible.
Neil’s enthusiasm for the wilderness began at an early age. Over fifteen years ago, he commenced guiding and working with bush horses, transforming his passion into a career. Despite an initial fear of horses, Neil developed a profound connection with these remarkable animals over time.
